1. Is Thai Massage experience required?
Yes. Students should already have experience or prior training in Thai Massage techniques before taking this class. This workshop builds upon foundational Thai bodywork skills and adapts them specifically for prenatal clients.
2. Is it safe to use heat during pregnancy?
Yes, when used properly and professionally. Regarding heat during pregnancy, the main concern is raising the core body temperature, such as with hot tubs, saunas, or hot yoga. During poultice work, the herbal poultice is often applied through a cloth or over clothing until it cools slightly. The poultices are used rhythmically and only one is used at a time, which does not raise the body’s core temperature the way prolonged heat exposure might.
3. Is this class taught on the mat or on a massage table?
This class is taught on the mat using traditional Thai Massage positioning and body mechanics adapted for prenatal comfort and safety.
4. What will I learn in this workshop?
Students will learn how to safely incorporate warm herbal poultices into prenatal Thai Massage sessions, including techniques for relaxation, muscle tension relief, comfort positioning, contraindications, and practitioner body mechanics. The class also covers herbal applications and client safety considerations during pregnancy.
5. Will I receive course materials?
Yes. Students receive class materials and educational resources to help them review and integrate the techniques into their practice after the workshop.
